1. Christian witness is simply one beggar telling another beggar where he found bread.

2. Appropriate witness points homosexual people to Jesus - not to heterosexuality. (Ezekiel 36:26- 27; Acts 4:12; 2 Corinthians 12:9)

3. Appropriate witness calls for love and humility. (Mark 12:31; 1 Peter 3:15)

4. Love God, hate your own sin, and love sinners.

5. Appropriate witness to homosexual people requires awareness of our cultural setting and our audience. God’s Word never changes but our audience often does.

6. When speaking to:

  o Cultural elitists and gay activists who despise us and our beliefs, be bold and unapologetic;

  o Strugglers who resist same-sex attraction, be loving, patient, and sympathetic;

  o Those wounded by believers, be apologetic and humble;

  o Weak Christians who compromise truth to gain the approval of society or friends, be persuasive and persistent;

  o Compromised believers who redefine the truth, be serious and uncompromising;

  o Homosexuals who live contrary to Scripture, be respectful but straightforward; and,

  o Believers who display hatred, fear, or self-righteousness, be direct in loving rebuke.

7. Sometimes witness must occur within the church before it can occur in the world. (1 Peter 4:17)

8. Appropriate witness requires both demonstration and proclamation; a compelling model as well as a convincing message. (Matthew 5:16; 1 Thessalonians 1:5)

9. Gay marriage isn’t a solution for domestic breakdown; it’s just a further step down the same road.

10. The answer for marital failure isn’t redefinition of God’s intent but return to it!

11. If we don’t personify holy relationships and sexuality, our words about them won’t be persuasive.

12. Appropriate witness listens before it instructs.

13. Effective witness isn’t leading someone to Jesus; it’s helping them take their next step towards Him!

14. The ultimate answer to increased homosexuality is for the church to increase in being the church; a people oriented to Jesus! (Matthew 14:35)
