Sermon Outline

1. If we approach God’s Word seeking an echo of our own beliefs we’ll likely walk away having encountered ourselves rather than God! (Jeremiah 23:26)

2.Romans 1:24-27 clearly affirms the intrinsic moral evil of homosexual conduct.

“Therefore, God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator - who is forever praised. Amen. Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.” (Romans 1:24-27)

3. When cultures and peoples rebel against the Creator they abandon the created norm. It was once in their grasp but they willfully let it go!

4. The exchange of natural sexual relations for unnatural ones is the inevitable effect of having exchanged the worship of the true God for idolatry.

5. Increased homosexual conduct doesn’t indicate such conduct is normal; it indicates increased unbelief.

6. Homosexual conduct is intrinsically immoral - irrespective of social context, personal motivation, or any other factors.

7. Scripture wasn’t given to make Jesus like us, but to make us like Jesus. (Romans 8:29)

8. When we reduce God’s Word to fit our desires we reduce our own souls. And we close the doors to hope and healing!
