On Mission

1 Corinthians 10:31

This passage is a big problem for the universal church. We fail to see ourselves as on mission.

The fact that the mission is more important than most other things in our lives.

We are to live in a way that many may be saved.

Once you are known as a Christian, the uniform is on and we are called to be on mission.

Much of the New Testament is aimed at teaching us how to live for the glory of God.

What does that mean? It means to show God's wisdom, character, nature, and hope to those who don't know Him.

The mission of the Church is to go into all the world.

The mission of Calvary Church is to compel every person in Central Illinois to seriously consider the claims of Christ and to support ministries around the world that do the same.

Christians are supposed to have overflowing influence.

Do you have compelling influence?

We have the most inviting mission of all, but are we compelling?

Here is the word of the father of all lies: you don't know anyone who is open to the gospel.

Matthew 9:36

Jesus says the harvest is plentiful, but the problem is the laborers!

The key factor for a laborer is influence.

Many believers become weak from two things.

  1. Lack of knowledge.
  2. Not protecting our influence.

What makes our influence positive and compelling?

  1. Time - Potential influence.
  2. Power - Contains influence.

Time and power do not guarantee positive influence. If I have used them selfishly to get on mission, I may have to make some dramatic changes.

Here is the sphere of influence.

How do I make it good?  How do I get on mission?

  1. Consistency of life.
  2. Friendliness of life - based on love for people.
  3. Service to a need.
  4. Patience - mercy
