Sermon Outline

1 Corinthians 13:1-8

It's Not You. It's Me.

CORE VALUES

Pastor Mark Johnson January 25, 2015

What are the rules of the road or core values in your life? Listen. You have them.

Your rules are revealed in:
A. How you interact with others.
B. How you react to the circumstances of life.

Core values are not simply what you say but are truly reflected in what you do.

Core values are underestimated or simply not thought of in relationships.

To be a safe driver:
A. You need to know what your rules of the road should
be, then give an honest evaluation of your actions.

B. You need to understand the core values of the people around you.

What are your core values? Your children are learning them.

  1. Our actions speak louder than words.

  2. Who else is instilling core values in your children’s lives?

  3. When core values are different, more conflict enters a relationship.

The closer the core values, the better the relationship can be.

This week’s assignment.

  1. Continue to read 1 Corinthians 13 each day.

  2. Examine your core values. Especially your default settings and discuss them with your family.

  3. Establish healthy core values and start working at living them.

  4. Read Matthew 5-7 and ask the Lord to help establish the right core values.
