Philippians 2:14-16
We are supposed to be a picture of the character of the world in comparison to the regenerated heart and mind of the follower of Christ.
How do we stand out? As lights showing a better way.
How do we brighten our light in a crooked and twisted generation?
How do our lives become bright stars in a dark world? The brightest lights come from generous hearts.
Jesus is the Light of the World.
John 3:16
He came with a purpose: to give Himself for us so we could be regenerated by His power.
The regenerated person’s heart begins to act and think in a renewed way. The regenerated heart desires and leans toward living God’s way.
We are brightest when we let Jesus shine through our lives.
A generous life reflects the nature of the Spirit growing and manifesting itself in us and in the world.
Galatians 5:22
Some things to pray about and rate ourselves on this week:
Love Joy Peace
Patience Kindness Goodness
Faithfulness Gentleness Self-Control
The development of the Fruits of the Spirit in your life is a revelation of your spiritual wattage in this crooked and twisted world.
This week we’ll look at love.
- Do we naturally love others?
- Love as illustrated by God is a desire for our good.
- God so loved He gave His only begotten Son.
- The root of God’s action was love.
- The natural growth of God’s Spirit in us will produce a generous spirit of love.
What is the measure of love in your heart? Is it natural love or boundless love?
Luke 6:32-36
Spirit developed love:
- wants the best for others as image bearers of God,
- does what it can for the benefit of others, and
- sees people with value.
When you see people as unregenerated or undeveloped in faith, are you patient and willing to do the best for them?
God is the power source of strength for the believer’s heart. He gives us the ability to rise above the flesh and walk in the Spirit.
Galatians 5:25
Consider:
- Are you facing something now that you need peace that passes understanding?
- Is God calling you to a spirit of love, wanting the best, that passes the natural and flows to the spiritual?
- Where in your life does God’s light shine brightly and
is there a short circuit that needs fixed?
