EQUIP: The Movement

Matthew 13:1-9

How do you think about Church?

Warning: As Americans we are consumer-driven in our thinking.

I believe this consumerism mentality impacts many people’s view of Church

We need to clearly understand the role God has given the Church in our lives.

Two places where your experience with the Church can be impacted by consumerism:

1. The reception of preaching and teaching.

Preaching is supposed to

  • Exhort us
  • Convict us.

If the Bible is not your standard for faith and conduct, you are a consumer.

2. Worship. God is worthy to be worshipped and praised

Worship is about expressing a heart of love and adoration to God.

I want to keep pushing us to the Bible

As one writer put it, the role of the church is to get us to think, feel, and act like Christians. This is called making disciples

This is all-encompassing in the actions of the church.

Here is my challenge to you: Recognize that you and your family need the Church. You will drift without it.

This is why we have Equip. It is aimed at “helping people become mature followers of Christ.”

Calls to action:

  1. Go to Starting Point.
  2. Make Wednesday Equip a priority.
  3. Get your children to their departments
  4. Join a C2 small group

You get to choose what kind of soil you will be.

The great promise is that you can bear fruit a hundred fold
