Luke 1:28-33

The GOAT, which stands for The Greatest of All Time.

This week’s Chat GPT’s list of Greatest Men in History:

Alexander The Great               Julius Caesar

Gautama Buddha                   Jesus Christ

Confucius                              Isaac Newton

Mahatma Gandhi                   Albert Einstein

Martin Luther King Jr.             Nelson Mandela

Chat GPT’s list of Greatest Religious Leaders in History:

Buddha (Sidhartha Gautama)    Jesus Christ

Muhammad                              Moses

Confucius                                 Guru Nanak

Zoroaster (Zarathustra)             Saint Francis of Assisi

Rumi                                        The Dalai Lama

In the Christian doctrine, if a Christ follower dies, they don’t want to come back.

C.S. Lewis wrote that Jesus was either Lord, liar, or lunatic.

  • If He was a lunatic, He really thought He was God but wasn’t.
  • If He was a liar, He knew His teaching was deceitful and men were still without hope.

The Church was not built simply on Jesus’ teaching or on Him raising an army and forcing people to follow Him. It was built on the lives of His followers who testified that Jesus is the resurrected Savior of the world.

Nobody else has done that. That is an important point when considering the GOAT.

When Adam rebelled against a Holy God, his seed (which are you and me) was cut off from God.

What qualifies Jesus to be the GOAT?

  • Jesus came to reopen the door so we could be people of His Kingdom. It’s why the words “born again” are so important.
  • He left Heaven.
  • He emptied Himself and became obedient to the Father.
  • He showed us the very nature of God and how we should live.
  • He was the exact imprint of the Father so we could know Him.
  • He came so we could be reconnected to the Father through the Spirit and we could walk with Him.
  • He came with an eye on the cross and to sacrifice Himself for us that we could receive the grace of God.

Jesus stepped out of Heaven to join us in the impoverished land to make a new way to a new promised land. He did it.

Jesus came to tell us there is eternal life and that the Holy Spirit could come and be with each of us.

Jesus today sits at the right hand of the Father and intercedes for our weaknesses.

Jesus offers new life.

Jesus is the GOAT because Jesus changes everything.
