Sermon Outline

James 4:1-10 (NIV)

If God is so powerful, why is our culture turning against the teaching of the Bible?

What is happening in America? Are we destined for decline?

The problem of the Church’s weakness rests with how willing the Church is to trust and apply the directions of God’s Kingdom.

The Church’s weakness is revealed in the ballot box. Not the political ballot box, but the spiritual ballot box.

Many Christians are not absentee voters; they are non-existent voters.

Part One of the Church’s Weakness

James 4:1-2 (NIV) – This passage can be read as pertaining to the Church, but it applies to every part of our lives.

God’s answer? You do not have, because you do not ask God.

We do not have because, we do not ask God

It is time to stuff the ballot box.

Part Two of the Church’s Weakness

James 4:3-10 (NIV)

Our motives and obedience matter.

  • Submit yourselves to God.
  • Resist the devil.
  • Come near to God.

The promise: Humble yourself and He will lift you up.

Almighty God is awaiting our votes.

2 Corinthians 5:6-10

John 14:12-14

Your actions in prayer cast a ballot of faith.
