Week 2 Knowing God

Exodus 19:1-6

What you find in Exodus 19-30 is very important. It is a revelation of the greatness of God and our relationship with Him. If you study it, you will grow in faith.

Every aspect of the Tabernacle has deep meaning.

A “type” is a person or thing in the Bible that God designed to represent or picture a person, thing, or event that would appear in the future.

Thank Offerings: given in thanks for something God had done for the person, or in a pledge of faith for something they wanted done for them.

Burnt Offerings: individual, daily, Day of Atonement

These were sin offerings.

Things in common:

  • a blood sacrifice
  • everything would be burnt

The Day of Atonement was once a year.

The sin offering would be laid on the altar.

The priest or the person seeking forgiveness would place their hands on the head of the sacrifice.

Warning: Today we have lost a sense of the terror of sin

When Americans think about God, their first thought is God is a God of love.

It is easy to forget the path that led us to the cross: our need, His plan for our victory.

The cross is an act of God’s holiness so He can offer us love.
