He Said What? (Intro)
July 9 & 10
Pastor Alan Hannah

34The disciples did not understand any of this. Its meaning was hidden from them, and they did not know what he was talking about. [Luke 18:34 NIV]

The greatest problem we have with the Bible is not a lack of understanding but rather a lack of application.

16All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. [2 Timothy 3:16 NLT]

12For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires. [Hebrews 4:12 NLT]

105Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path. [Psalm 119:105 NLT]

8The grass withers and the flowers fade, but the word of our God stands forever. [Isaiah 40:8 NLT]

The Bible is God’s voice and the primary way in which he chooses to speak to us. It is the only reliable way to learn who God is and what his character is like. It is completely true and trustworthy for living life abundantly.

The reliability of the Bible.

  1. We have thousands of biblical manuscripts.
  2. Archeology supports the biblical record.
  3. The original writings were faithfully preserved.
  4. The New Testament was written shortly after the events it records.

15“If you love me, obey my commandments. 16And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you. He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. [John 14:15-16a NLT]
