The Response, Part 2

The concepts of Heaven and Hell are both Biblical concepts. This is the big issue in life.

Ephesians 4:11

We should desire to be part of a God-honoring church, a group of believers who are pleasing to God.

Why do we come each week? What is the purpose of us gathering together?

In Revelation, Jesus is walking among the local churches, judging them.

Who does Jesus speak to within the local churches? He speaks to the angel of that church – the messenger, pastor, or the shepherd. What is the pastor supposed to do?

Epesians 4:12-16

A healthy church:

  • is growing in love for God and each other,
  • is growing in the unity of faith and knowledge of the Son of God,
  • examines all teaching by the foundation of the Word, and
  • has a core group of people who work together to do the work of God on earth.

Three types of churches today:

  1. Churches that are completely captured by the world in thought and deed.
  2. Churches that are worried about fitting in with the world.
  3. Healthy churches that measure themselves against Biblical standards.

We want Jesus to walk among us and say “keep it up, stay faithful!”

Why do we come to church on Sunday?

  • To worship our Savior with other believers
  • To hear the Word that purifies us in a filthy generation
  • To grow in unity together

What is our responsibility to the lost?

  • To love and call them to Christ

Basic rules of engagement:

  • Pray for them continually.
  • Don’t enter into debates, but have open conversations.
  • Serve them in love and patience.

If God leads you to someone:

  • Pray for them.
  • Live a Godly life before them.
  • Listen to them.
  • Share your testimony.
  • Give room for the Holy Spirit to move.

Believers, ask God, “Who is the person You want me to reach?”
