Sermon Outline

Judges 5:7 - Villagers in Israel would not fight; they held back until I, Deborah, arose, until I arose, a mother in Israel.

Deborah, the wife of Lappidoth, was a prophet who was judging Israel at that time. [Judges 4:4 NLT]

So the Lord turned them over to King Jabin of Hazor, a Canaanite king. [Judges 4:2a NLT]

So on that day Israel saw God defeat Jabin, the Canaanite king. And from that time on Israel became stronger and stronger against King Jabin until they finally destroyed him. [Judges 4:23-24 NLT]

1. THERE WILL ALWAYS BE A JABIN.

It is impossible to demonstrate courageousness and strength without being in the midst of a battle.

“I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.” [John 16:33 NLT]

Walking with Christ does not guarantee a pain-free, trouble-less life. Rather, it is walking with the One who bore all pain and trouble so that we may live with Him.

Sisera, who had 900 iron chariots, ruthlessly oppressed the Israelites for twenty years. Then the people of Israel cried out to the Lord for help. [Judges 4:3 NLT]

2. THERE WILL ALWAYS BE A HELPER.

Physical training is good, but training for godliness is much better, promising benefits in this life and in the life to come. [1 Timothy 4:8 NLT]

I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. [Ephesians 3:16 NLT]

Strength and courage can only be found when you are under His wings and abiding in Him.

Because you are my helper; I sing for joy in the shadow of your wings. [Psalm 63:7 NLT]

3. THERE WILL ALWAYS BE A CHOICE.

For the Kingdom of God is not just a lot of talk; it is living by God’s power. Which do you choose? [1 Corinthians 4:20-21a]

God’s people should be demonstrating God’s power to the world around us. We do this by being courageous and strong in the midst of uncertainty and difficulty.
