Matthew 7:13-14

The Sermon on the Mount gives us instructions on how to live faithfully in the Kingdom of God.

The Three Assumptions of Righteous Living:

  • When you give to the poor
  • When you pray
  • When you fast

Jesus then turns to the spiritual condition of the heart.

Matthew 7:13-27 – Four Warnings

Matthew 7:13-14

Jesus is calling us to a binary view of the world.

Throughout Jesus’ four warnings, mankind is divided into two groups.

Who is headed to the wide gate?

Jesus warns us that the wide gate is easy and many find it.

The broad path is easy and filled with self-justification.

The narrow gate is hard.

Why? It calls for constant self-examination.

The Holy Spirit has work to do in us, and He will not relent in doing His job.

From the beginning of these messages, Jesus has been laying out road markers, signs to let us know what road we are on.

Matthew 5:3

Our surrender, trust, and confidence in Him allow us to rest.
