Core Value: Love

Pastor Mark Johnson

“To compel every person in Central Illinois to seriously consider the claims of Christ. To support efforts around the world to do the same.”

Matthew 22:36

What is the greatest commandment?

Jesus said two things: love God and love your neighbor.

Why is this core? It speaks to a core value.

If we love God and each other, then everything is right.

For a family, church or organization to be healthy and accomplish its mission, core values have to be in alignment.

Last week we talked about our first core value: the Bible is our standard for faith and conduct.

In any organization, the more people who buy into the core values, the more peace and success the organization experiences.

Here is our second core value: to love God and each other.

Philippians 2:1

1 John 4:20

John 17:20

We believe that every person is a special creation of God who has value and purpose. We believe there is strength in being a multi-generational, multi-racial and multi-cultural community of believers.

We believe diversity in taste, style and culture are to be celebrated. While we stand firmly on the moral teaching of the Bible, we celebrate God's great diversity of preferences and His unlimited creativity.

The church is called to love one another. We are stronger in Jesus and a better witness to the world when we do.
