Matthew 28:18-20

The Great Commission identifies two of the core reasons the Church exists.

  1. Sharing the message of the gospel with others: evangelism
  2. Teaching new believers how to live by the kingdom of God: discipleship

Evangelism has two parts:

  1. The Church’s combined efforts
  2. The Christian’s personal call

During last week’s Missions Week, we heard about our part of the combined effort.

Today, we are turning our attention to the other side of our evangelism mission - the personal call.

Matthew 7:13-14

All people are on one of two roads.

Jesus came to earth to offer mercy to mankind.

 

The Christian is here to tell of the mercy of God to mankind.

John 3:36

Jesus saves us from the wrath of God.

The Bible teaches us the only way to be saved from the wrath of God is through faith in Jesus.

How concerned are you about those still in danger of God’s wrath?

Are you concerned enough to:

  • Be careful how you live your life around them?
  • Pray for them?
  • See your life as a call to serve them in Jesus’ name?
  • Enter into a spiritual conversation with them?

The enemy will try to scare you or desensitize you to the condition of the lost.
