Psalm 12

Overview

  • David cries out to God for help because of the mistrust that he has with those who should be trusted.
  • The destruction of his proud and threatening enemies
  • His assurance of deliverance
  • God will preserve and secure His own people.

 

Prayer of Deliverance –Psalm 12:1-4

Verse 1

  • David was in a period of struggle.
  • 2 Timothy 3:1
  • Those who are faithful disappear.

Verses 2-4

  • David illustrates what the issue is.
    • Psalm 55:2
    • Jeremiah 9:4-5
  • May the Lord cut off their flattering lips.
  • They were proud and conceited.
    • Exodus 5:1-2

 

Assurance of Deliverance –Psalm 12:5

  • This implies that God himself takes notice of the oppression of the poor and needy and intervenes.
  • There are many scriptures that talk about God ministering to the poor and hurting.
    • Matthew 25:34-41
    • Hebrews 13:5

 

Confidence in God’s Word –Psalm 12:6-8

  • “The Words of the Lord are pure words.”
    • Proverbs 30:5
  • God will secure His chosen remnant to Himself.
    • Psalm 37:28
  • The vile walk among us.

 

There is hope when we walk with God.

Life is not easy and wickedness and vileness surround us but God is with us and his word is pure.
