Thy Kingdom Come – Three Assumptions Part 1

November 9, 2025 | Mark Johnson

Matthew 6:1

Jesus warns about religion as a show and gives three assumptions that all start with “when you.”

Today we’re looking at the assumption inMatthew 6:5, “And when you pray.”

What is your prayer life like? How is it impacting your life?

Prayer is a big deal. The kingdom of God moves forward on the prayers of believers.

Some things only happen because of prayer, and some don’t happen because of lack of prayer.

Prayer is when you open the door to God moving in your circumstances.

What is going on in your life that you know is not God’s will? Pray about it.

What do you want to see God do in your life? Pray about it.

God’s victory in your life hangs on your decision to pray.

What did the disciples ask for? “Teach us to pray.”

They saw the source of the power Jesus exercised.

Some of the hopeless issues you are facing are only hopeless because you are fighting in your own power.

1 Samuel 17:45

“Until His sovereign will becomes your sanctified wish, your prayer life will be unplugged from its power supply.” – Draw the Circle.

The issues we face in life are the very place God wants us to seek Him.

Jesus says “When you pray.” Jesus assumes that you know the source of the answers to your needs.
