The Risk of the Generous

John 12:1–8 (ESV)

Hebrews 11:6 (ESV)

For God to bless us in our finances, they have to be in order.

  1. Get out of debt
  2. Don’t manipulate
  3. Be generous

Two hearts revealed here: generosity and selfishness.

Two examples in this passage: extravagant giving and anger.

Jesus didn’t give the money box to Judas to cause him to fail, He gave it to him to pass.

You and I are being tested right now.

Three levels of giving:

  • tithe
  • offerings
  • extravagant offering

Luke 21:1–4 (ESV)

Extravagance is not about the amount, it’s about the attitude and faith.

2 Corinthians 8:1–7

Could you give a gift to God that would impress Him? You can

Giving is about our heart. Don’t think He has your heart if He doesn’t have your money.

When you give an extravagant gift you will look at it the rest of your life with joy.

The Reward of Generosity.

Mark 14:9

She didn’t come to get a reward; she gave to honor Jesus.

Grateful people are generous.

Generosity is a right response to the work of God in our lives.

God always rewards generosity.

God always rewards obedience.

God loves to reward.

Culminate at the judgment seat of God, where believers’ works will be tested.

What if I am wrong? The risk of being generous.
