Sermon Outline

Key Point: God is Truth!

Spirit of truth(1 John 4:6, NIV)

I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.  (John 14:6, NIV)

Key Point: Walk in Truth!

20 …you have an anointing from the Holy One, and all of you know the truth. 21 I do not write to you because you do not know the truth, but because you do know it and because no lie comes from the truth. 22 Who is the liar? It is whoever denies that Jesus is the Christ. Such a person is the antichrist—denying the Father and the Son. 23 No one who denies the Son has the Father; whoever acknowledges the Son has the Father also. (1 John 2:20-23, NIV)

a. Address Our Sins

I’ve pointed this need out every week in this series because
…we are lying if we say we have fellowship with God but go on living in spiritual darkness; we are not practicing the truth. If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and not living in the truth. (1 John 1:6, 8, NIV)

b. Obey God’s Commands

If someone claims, “I know God,” but doesn’t obey God’s commandments, that person is a liar and is not living in the truth. (1 John 2:4, NIV)

Dear children, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions. (1 John 3:18, NIV)

31 …Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. 32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” (John 8:31-32, NIV)

c. Acknowledge Jesus

But if someone claims to be a prophet and does not acknowledge the truth about Jesus, that person is not from God. (1 John 4:3, NIV)
