My Personal Praise

Matthew 22:34-38
And one of them, a lawyer, asked him a question to test him. “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?”

(The song Pastor refers to was King of My Heart by Bethel Worship)

If you have been a follower of Christ for any amount of time you know that answer, but do you really possess the answer?
Do you really love God that way?

Love starts someplace, but it matures and grows in our walk.

In the next few weeks, we will take a look at our walk and see the depth of our love
This is important to our lives

When our love for God is secondary instead of first, we are set for failure.

Over the next few weeks we are going to look at some of the Names and Claims of God. In those names and claims we will see the kind of relationship God wants to have with each of us.

With each one we will ask:
“Do I just know that, or do I live in that relationship with God?”

This week I want to give you an assignment.
I want you to write you own personal Psalm.

A Personal Psalm of Praise.

Psalm 136 is a call of praise to God for His steadfast love. Each line ends with “His steadfast love endures forever.”

As you read Psalm 136 you will see that the psalmist:

  • recognizes God’s authority and power over all things.

  • rejoices over God’s care and power revealed in nature.

  • celebrates God’s provision for His people throughout history.

  • speaks of how God moved on behalf of His chosen people.

Here is the challenge: take time to write a psalm about how God has shown His steadfast love for you.
(see Additional Media below to print your own copy of A Personal Psalm of Praise)

Fill in the blank during your appointment times with God this month, praising Him for His steadfast love for you.

The first five verses and the last verse fit all our lives.
You don’t have to fill all the blanks in at one time or ever. Just begin to give some thought as to how God has shown His love to you and praise Him for His steadfast love.
