Key Point: Jesus Transforms Ordinary People

 

The Twelve were with him, and also some women who…were helping to support them out of their own means. (Luke 8:1-3, NIV) 

 

… that they were unschooled, ordinary men… (Acts 4:13a, NIV)

 

46 The men seized Jesus and arrested him. 50 Then everyone deserted him and fled.51 A young man, wearing nothing but a linen garment, was following Jesus. When they seized him, 52 he fled naked, leaving his garment behind.(Mark 14:46, 50-52, NIV) 

 

Peter followed at a distance. (Luke 22:54b, NIV)

 

the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jewish leaders…(John 20:19, NIV)

 

Key Point: Jesus Transforms People Through the Spirit

 

“Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.”(John 20:25b, NIV)

he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures.(Luke 24:45, NIV)

Key Point: Ordinary People Do Extraordinary Things

 

When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus. (Acts 4:13, NIV)

 

“Which is right in God’s eyes: to listen to you, or to him? You be the judges!  As for us, we cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard.”(Acts 4:19-20, NIV)

 

“We must obey God rather than human beings!(Acts 5:29, NIV)
