Scriptures:

[Genesis 25:29-34 NIV] Once when Jacob was cooking some stew, Esau came in from the open country, famished. He said to Jacob, “Quick, let me have some of that red stew! I’m famished!” (That is why he was also called Edom.) Jacob replied, “First sell me your birthright.” “Look, I am about to die,” Esau said. “What good is the birthright to me?” But Jacob said, “Swear to me first.” So he swore an oath to him, selling his birthright to Jacob. Then Jacob gave Esau some bread and some lentil stew. He ate and drank, and then got up and left. So Esau despised his birthright.

[Romans 9:10-13 NIV] Not only that, but Rebekah’s children were conceived at the same time by our father Isaac. Yet, before the twins were born or had done anything good or bad—in order that God’s purpose in election might stand: not by works but by him who calls—she was told, “The older will serve the younger.” Just as it is written: “Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated.”

  1. God wants you to use your unique role in the body of Christ to serve others and glorify Him. (1 Peter 4:10)

  2. Don’t weaponize your gifts, talents, and burdens for selfish and political gain. Use them to glorify God. (Matthew 25:14-24)

  3. The way in which we use our God-given gifts, talents, and burdens can unite or divide a family, community, and church. We can either bring glory to God, or break God’s heart.

  4. Walk away from temptation before it’s too late. You have a glorious future. Do not fall for the enticing offer of sin. It’s nothing more than a preposterous proposition. (Proverbs 4:14-15, 2Timothy 2:22, 1Corinthians 10:13)

  5. Before you were born, God knew you and He has a plan for you. [Psalm 139:13-17]

  6. God’s kingdom is the main thing, and it centers not on external matters but on our relationship with God and with others.

  7. “God’s truth without God’s love is like giving a dying person an empty cup of medicine. You acknowledge their disease but deny them the cure.” [Rockism]
