Sermon Outline

Hebrews 1:1-3

What makes this a wonderful time of the year for us?

What would be different if Jesus had not been born?

The birth of Jesus is wonderful and what we should celebrate. He is the Savior who is Christ the Lord.

How can we imagine a God so big that He creates the universe unless He reveals Himself to us?

God has been introducing Himself into our story by revealing Himself to His creation.

All the men and women in the Bible are worthy of honor, but we do not worship them. They are still flawed human beings.

But then there is Jesus. He is the exact imprint of God’s nature.

Hebrews 1:1-3

Jesus reveals the glory, wonder, power, and majesty of God.

What we see in our decaying, sin-ruled, limited-knowledge bodies is that we have a Savior and Lord who enters our stories and rescues us. He teaches us and walks with us, and we find Him through Jesus.

Jesus came to this earth by the will of the Father, through the creative work of the Spirit, to insert Himself into our story. We know the fullness of God and have the power to walk in His plan for our lives.

This is the wonder of Jesus coming to the earth:

  • He is God inserting Himself into our story.
  • We can know how to please God.
  • We can know how to hear Him.
  • We can come to Him with our prayers.
  • We can rest in forgiveness.
  • We can know where to get help and guidance.
  • We can know right from wrong.
  • We can rest in His love.
  • We can accept His holiness.
  • We can trust His redemption.
  • We can experience bonds in our lives being broken.
  • We can find purpose for our existence.

All of this because we have a Savior who is Christ the Lord.

Prayer for the Week:

  • Jesus thank You for Your love. Help me to love others as You have loved me.
  • Jesus, thank You for Your forgiveness. Help me to forgive others as You have forgiven me.
  • Jesus, thank You for the hope You bring to world. Help me to live in faith in Your word.
  • Jesus, teach me the way to honor You in every area of my life.
