Summary: God’s people can triumph in troubled times because we have the unshakeable hope that Jesus is coming back to rescue us from present day suffering. But this hope doesn’t allow us to pursue ease and comfort while we wait. We must get ready! We are called to behave in holiness because our Father is holy. Because we have been redeemed by the blood of Jesus, we live as foreigners in this world with a reverence for God. We also must get in spiritual shape by exercising love for others and by nourishing ourselves on a steady diet of the pure Word of God. We are foreigners in this world who have great hope and it’s time to get ready!

Are you getting ready?

Live It Out

  • Are you living in a way that reflects the holiness of God? In what ways is your Father calling you live distinctly from this world as his child?
  • Do you view your life as your own or do you live with the perspective that you belong to God? Who or what do you fear more than God? In what ways do you need to repent and allow God to take charge in your life?
  • Are you known as someone who works hard at loving others, or do you love only when it’s convenient for you? How is God tugging on your heart to step out in a greater level of love for and service to others?
  • What have you been feeding your heart and mind lately? What junk food of the world do you need to cut out? How can you plan to better nourish yourself on the pure Word of God starting today?
  • For those of us who have trusted in Jesus as Savior and Lord, we are anticipating a great hope! If Jesus is not your Lord, his return should cause you to dread. That can change today! Will you trust him so you can be ready at his return?
