Sermon Outline

Matthew 7:24-27

As Jesus wraps up the Sermon on the Mount, He offers a fact, a promise, and a warning.

The Fact: Storms will come.

Storms in our lives come in different forms.

  • Health
  • Money
  • Emotional
  • Relationship
  • Death

The storms of life can come with devastating power.

Storms come, so be ready.

The Promise: We can build our lives on an undestroyable foundation.

How can we become stronger than the storms? Put Jesus’ words to practice even in the storm.

We can learn to see life through the lens of Jesus’ teaching.

  • We understand where we are living.
  • We understand when we are living.
  • We understand that storms will come.

The keys to being indestructible are faith and obedience.

We learn how to act, think, and feel during a storm.

We should always do what Jesus tells us to do.

Feelings are tied to our sin nature.

Whatever storms we face, remember that this day is temporary.

The Warning: Don’t build our lives on the sand.

Building our lives on the sand is acting, feeling, and thinking by the flawed wisdom of the world.

If you build on the sand, the storm will destroy your house.
