Sermon Outline

Matthew 6:12

How we view ourselves and God puts our lives in the perspective of the Kingdom.

When we see God the right way, it leads to a life of peace and security.

When we see ourselves as knowing more than we do, we are left with worry and uncertainty.

How we view ourselves and God is key to having a right heart in prayer.

The heart to pray for others.Matthew 6:12

What is in your heart?

Jesus tells us about His kingdom inMatthew 18:23-35.

In this story, we are the man, and God is the king.

We are the man forgiven of great debt, and the man represented as someone who hurt us.

Matthew 18:35

The lesson: It is dangerous in the Kingdom of God not to forgive others.

We get into the Kingdom by being forgiven.

If we pray, “forgive me as I have forgiven them,” how are we asking God to forgive us?

A lack of forgiveness is a sign of a heart not fully aware of the forgiveness it has been given, and not fully healed by the love of God.

Prayer: God I am not as moral as You are. I do not love as You love. Forgive me for holding my hurts and heal me so I can forgive as You forgive me. I recognize my sin against You is far greater than their sin against me.

A lack of forgiveness is a sign that we are not fully examining ourselves before a holy God.

A lack of forgiveness is a sign that the love of God has not fully healed our hearts.

Justification means just as if we had not sinned.

When we see ourselves as sinners with God as the Great Forgiver, and we come to Him through Jesus, the spirit of justification will begin to rule in our hearts.

“Go to hell” is not the heart of the transformed. The heart of the forgiven begins to flow with a spirit of mercy.
