Persecution

Matthew 5:10–12 (ESV)

The prime objective of Jesus is to teach people how to live in the Kingdom and be Built to Last.

After encountering God, the progression in the Kingdom becomes natural. It is a process that is necessary to be Built to Last.

All the steps are required and all will happen as a person sees God and humbly begins to seek him.

The transformed life will find itself at time in conflict with the life that has not seen God.

Here is what Jesus is saying: If you live by the first part of the beatitudes, no matter how merciful you are, it will draw a line in the sand between you and world.

Lesson: The sin nature always wants to rewrite the rules to fit its desires.

Jesus warns us that if the world hated Him it will also hate those who follow him.

One Roman poet speaking to the plight of Christians put it this way, “the panting, huddling flow whose only crime is Christ.”

It is easy to never face persecution. Just live like the world.

Luke 9:26 (ESV)

Where is that line? I believe we find it at the point of conviction.

At the line of conviction, you will face compromise or persecution.

Where is the line between compromise and faithfulness drawn in our lives?

Where is the line of compromise?
Most likely at the place of persecution.

Jesus said there are two results of being Built to Last.

  1. One is earthly: persecution.

  2. The other is eternal: great reward in Heaven.
