Preparation

Joshua 3:1-8

Our goal is to get out of the desert and into the Promised Land.

For us, that means we want to live in the divine nature of God found in His promises.

What do the promises represent?

The divine nature lifts us above the deadliness and emptiness of the world and into the kingdom of God. The divine nature teaches us to think, act, and feel in divine relationship.

How do we get to the promised land and stay there once we arrive?

Last week: Let God’s Word be your guide.

To get to the promised land, somebody has to stand in the river.

There is a key principle in these verses that we all need to understand.

Joshua 3:5

Consecrate: Clean up your act. Set your life apart to please God.

If you want to live in the promises of God, consecrate these five areas:

  • Consecrate your mouth.
  • Consecrate your attitude.
  • Consecrate your eyes and ears.
  • Consecrate your relationships.
  • Consecrate your priorities.

If you want to go the Promised Land, consecrate and set your life apart, to please God.

This is a basic New Testament principle laid out by Jesus. It leads us to the Promised Land.

Jesus gives us a principle:Mark 8:34-37
