The Subtle Power of a Surrendered Life

Luke 19:28-48
The Subtle Power of a Surrendered Life

1. God knows the future, v. 30-32

“And taking the twelve, he said to them, “See, we are going up to Jerusalem, and everything that is written about the Son of Man by the prophets will be accomplished. For he will be delivered over to the Gentiles and will be mocked and shamefully treated and spit upon. And after flogging him, they will kill him, and on the third day he will rise. But they understood none of these things. This saying was hidden from them, and they did not grasp what was said.” -Luke 18:31-34

2. Jesus is compelled by what He values

3. God thinks a lot of Jesus, v. 40-44
Two things bear this out…
a) everything God created is created to worship Jesus
b) everyone who doesn’t believe experiences judgement

4. There is a purpose, v. 45-48
a) the day Jesus enters Jerusalem is lamb selection day- lamb selected
b) they had to keep the animal for five days to inspect it- Passion Week
c) the animal had to be without blemish or defect- “I find no fault in him.”
d) Jesus will be crucified as the Passover lambs are being sacrificed

Mental worship…
1. How should it orient you around God to know that He knows the future?
2. Do your choices reflect your values?
3. What is one thing about Christianity you wished you understood sooner?
4. What do you think Jesus valued during his time on earth?
