Prayer, One-on-one.

Luke 22:39-46

Jesus demonstrated and taught about a one-on-one relationship with the Father.

What Jesus demonstrated was prayer that leads us into a relationship with God.

The greatest work of prayer is a faith-building, life-purifying relationship with God.

Does my life need purified? The simple answer is “yes.”

What are the benefits of one-on-one time with God?

Victory Over Temptation
Victory over temptation produces a free, spirit-filled life.

Jesus said, “Pray that you may not enter into temptation.”

In Biblically-led prayer, we discover God and we discover who we are

Jesus invites us into a relationship built on God’s grace that forgives our past and heals our hearts.

This relationship changes us.

Temptation is defeated in prayer

Victory over desire is won in prayer.

Prayer becomes effective in our hearts as we ask God to change us.

Wisdom in Direction
The foundation of many people’s wisdom is sand:
feelings, money, the way they were raised, and life experience.

The revelation of wisdom is built on three principles:

  1. The Word of God

  2. Good counsel

  3. Prayer

Strength for the Next Day
When we pray, the Holy Spirit gives us counsel, strength, comfort, and help.

There are times we see the next thing coming.
There are times we are hit with unexpected changes.

How do we run to God? In prayer
We pour out our hearts and we wait for His strength.

Jesus teaches us how to pray so we can have new life.

One-on-one prayer is essential for victory.
