Sermon Outline

1. Successfully navigating times of uncertainty is not for the faint of heart!  But it’s possible for those who trust God’s heart!

2. We don’t always take what God offers!  And when we don’t the culprit is often a lack of understanding.

3. Hope is the untiring conviction God is in control and things will ultimately change for the better.

4. People with untiring, God-centered hope can navigate any uncertainty, confident it won’t be their permanent address.

5. Even those with untiring hope can grow tired!

6. Faltering hope doesn’t call for trying harder; it calls for cleaning up our definitions.

7. The primary reason we struggle to hold onto hope doesn’t owe to tough conditions as much as it owes to faulty definitions!

8. The better Jesus offers may be very different than the better we envision.

9. The better Jesus offers may be initiated by things that initially appear worse.

10. The better God intends may first require a death.

11. We may miss the better God intends if we equate better with the removal of pain!

12. To hold onto hope we may need to redefine the word “Lord.”

13. We forfeit the better we need if we’re obsessed with the better we want.
