Sermon Outline

Matthew 5:2–7
It is almost impossible to understand the impact Jesus’ teachings had on our culture.

How mercy-prone is your heart?

Matthew 9:27
The mercy Jesus is promoting comes from righteousness.

Luke 6:36
The Father’s mercy certainly extends to our sins against Him and against His creation.

His mercy extends to every area of our lives.

Here is the fruit: as desire towards righteousness grows in our lives, mercy finds fertile soil to grow in.

Mercy will not grow in hard soil.

The seed of mercy is planted in us when the gift of God’s daily mercy is realized within us.

Righteousness demands that we not only forgive those who trespass against us but that we offer care for those in need around us.

The Christian will offer mercy not as a duty but as a desire of the heart.

Mercy is a sign of diminishing selfishness.
