PSALMS – The Top 150 - Psalm 51

The Psalms show us how to do that.


Book 2: Psalms chapters 42-72

Most of the psalms in Book 2 are prefaced by sort of superscription, or instruction:

  • For the director of music – suggesting they are to be sung

  • Several specify the actual tune.

  • A maskil or a miktam – probably a musical or literary term

  • With stringed instruments

  • According to alamoth and According to mahalath – probably musical terms

  • 50 – Asaph

  • 51-71 – David 

  • 72 – Solomon
