Sermon Outline

• Genuine faith may require a rejection of actuality, but ignoring reality is by no means what it means to have faith.

 • Genuine faith may require a leap in the dark, but a leap in the dark is by no means what it means to have faith.

• Genuine faith may lead to thinking positively, but positive thinking is by no means what it means to have faith.

Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. [Hebrews 11:1 ESV]

 • Genuine faith must be centered in Jesus, not our desired outcome.

• Faith is trusting obedience to King Jesus.

 1. Strip off every weight that slows us down [sin].

Jesus is calling us to a faith that requires stripping ourselves of every weight that is slowing us down in our journey of faith.

2. Run with endurance the race God has set before us.

3. Keep our eyes on Jesus.
