Pastor Mark Johnson
October 5, 2014

Proverbs 1:1-5

Wisdom is the proper application of knowledge.

The tactics for wisdom:
Step One - Get Advice
Step Two - Get Busy
Step Three - Get Connected

Today we will explore:
Step Four - Get Knowledge

Proverbs 18:15

How much better would it be if even the good things were 10% better?
This is a Biblical call to be a lifelong learner.

When we think we have arrived, we stop. But when we know there is more, we keep going.
Think about this for a moment. Which of these areas in life can you afford to stop?

Proverbs 15:14 (NIV84)

How much effort have you put in during the last year to seek knowledge?

We may all want to do better, but the question comes from two weeks ago, “Are we willing to work at it?”

Proverbs 19:2-3

Listen to the progression:
The man has desire but no knowledge.
His desire leads to quick action.
His lack of knowledge, though well intentioned, leads to ruin.
He is now mad at God.

Proverbs 13:16

All of us, even with good intentions have blown it. The question is, will we learn the tactics of wisdom: good counsel, hard work, wise influence and growing knowledge? One of the signs of wisdom is the ability to admit ignorance and learn.
You became good at something because you grew in knowledge.

Proverbs 18:15

Be a lifelong learner in the areas of life that matter. The trouble you do not learn from, you are destined to repeat. You have not learned anything until you can identify what you would do differently.

Proverbs 22:29

Keep learning whatever is important. To say I know enough is foolish.

Proverbs 18:15

2 Timothy 3:16–17 (ESV)
