Be Wise - Hearing the Intimate Voice of God

Psalm 46:10

Do you want to hear from God?

Do you understand that He is speaking to you?

Why should we be still? To hear!

Do you have any time carved out in your life to listen?

If you don't, even if you hear something, you will never learn if it is God.

We have to discern the difference between:

  1. The flesh
  2. The enemy
  3. The voice of God

Make a time to get alone.

Philippians 4:4-7

Rejoice

Gentleness

Remind your spirit that God loves you.

Prayer, petition, thanksgiving

The peace of God

Waiting needs to be carved into life.

Filters:
God, is this prompting truly from you?
Is the voice scriptural?
Is it wise?
Is it in tune with my own character or wiring?

What do the people I most trust think about it?

The filter this week:
Is it wise?
Where does wisdom come from?

James 1:5: Prayer
Proverbs 1:1-7: Knowing the Word
Proverbs 11:14: Where there is no guidance, a people fall, but in an abundance of counselors there is safety.

Who is your counselor?

1 Chronicles 12:1-11

Your counsel should be wise:

  1. You met him three months ago.
  2. He has a dark past and never went to church before.
  3. You quit your job before you have a new one.
  4. Saving for months to purchase something and making monthly payments are the same.
  5. Is it wise?
  6. Every time I have done this I have fallen. Why do that?

Most foolish decisions for Christians are the desires of the flesh. We try to satisfy our way.
