Victorious: Victory Over Guilt and Shame

Key Point #1

In Christ We Are Victorious Over Guilt

12 When Adam sinned, sin entered the world. Adam’s sin brought death, so death spread to everyone, for everyone sinned. 16 And the result of God’s gracious gift is very different from the result of that one man’s sin. For Adam’s sin led to condemnation, but God’s free gift leads to our being made right with God, even though we are guilty of many sins. 17 For the sin of this one man, Adam, caused death to rule over many. But even greater is God’s wonderful grace and his gift of righteousness, for all who receive it will live in triumph over sin and death through this one man, Jesus Christ. (Romans 5:12, 16-17, NLT)

My guilt has overwhelmed melike a burden too heavy to bear.(Psalm 38:4, NIV)

Oh, what joy for thosewhose disobedience is forgiven, whose sin is put out of sight!Yes, what joy for those whose record the Lord has cleared of guilt, whose lives are lived in complete honesty!(Psalm 32:1-2, NLT)

Key Point #2

In Christ We Are Victorious Over Shame

Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts...(Romans 5:1-5, NIV)

Key Point #3

In Christ We Are New Creations

… anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!
(2 Corinthians 5:17, NLT)

“…are all children of God through faith in Christ…”(Galatians 3:26, NLT)

Oh, what joy for thosewhose disobedience is forgiven, whose sin is put out of sight!Yes, what joy for those whose record the Lord has cleared of guilt, whose lives are lived in complete honesty! When I refused to confess my sin,my body wasted away, and I groaned all day long.Day and night your hand of discipline was heavy on me.My strength evaporated like water in the summer heat. InterludeFinally, I confessed all my sins to you and stopped trying to hide my guilt.I said to myself, “I will confess my rebellion to the Lord.”And you forgave me! All my guilt is gone.
(Psalm 32:1-5, NLT)
