2 Peter 1:3–8 (ESV)
Peter tells us that God has given us everything we need for life and godliness.
There is no excuse that works.
Remember what comes out of us in times of stress is our default setting.
We have looked at the markers of growth for developing the nature God would have for all men: faith, virtue, knowledge, self-control, steadfastness, godliness, brotherly affection and love.
Imagine your life if those were the default responses.
2 Peter 1:8-11
“if these qualities are yours…”
“in increasing measure…” We never arrive until we are free from here.
Let’s look at the bad news first:
Now let’s look at the positive:
Our identity in Christ. Who are we now.
We were
Dead, Lost, Orphans, Darkness, Weak, Meaningless, Slaves, Bondage, Beaten
Now we are
Alive, Found, In God’s family, Light, Strong, Purposeful, Kings and Priests, Free, Overcomer
The enemy wants to keep you from knowing your identity in Christ.
Jesus wants you to find life to the full.
The Promises:
