Be Watchful

1 Peter 5:8-9

With all that is happening in our world and our lives we need to have a clear understanding of what is influencing the events around us.

Are they simply natural courses?

The Bible warns us to be sober minded and watchful.

If you are not sober minded and watchful, the enemy will run over your life.

Some people today are not experiencing the power of God because they are not seeing the battle.

Genesis 3:1-7

Watch for a growing desire for the forbidden.

The enemy’s hand is always in the enticing of the forbidden.

Here is my fear:

  • We will not recognize it as the battle.
  • We will accept the forbidden as good.

When the forbidden begins to be debated in our minds, the enemy is there.

The enemy is involved in the acceptance of the forbidden.

Watch for the compromise of worship.

Genesis 4:3-7

Worship of God is about His place.

Watch for the temptation of the glory.

In Proverbs 16:18-20, the writer gives thought to this temptation.

Two ways pride deceives us:

  1. We do things our way, without considering God.
  2. We believe we have accomplished things in life without God.

Watch for lies.

John 8:44

When lies flow with ease, the enemy is as work.

Without accountability to God, the ends I desire justify any way I get there.

1 Peter 5:8-9
