Sermon Outline

The Bible is its own best interpreter.

2. The story that appears to cast God in a negative light actually highlights His incredible love.

3. God doesn’t test His people to discover what’s in their heart. He already knows that! He tests us so we can discover what’s in our hearts. (1 Samuel 16:7; Acts 15:8)

4. God can’t fix what we refuse to acknowledge! (1 John 1:9; James 5:16)

5. We need tests to discern our surviving spiritual strongholds; the walls constructed of lies that keep God out and keep us imprisoned. (2 Corinthians 10:3-5)

6. Few things dilute faith more than fear.

7. The God who doesn’t abandon us because of our sin won’t abandon us to our sin! His tests testify to His faithfulness.

8. We’re tempted to turn God’s gifts into idols and then protect the gift rather than trust the Giver.

9. Delay is the great enemy of obedience.

10. The freedom God desires for us is only found in the place He designates.

11. Obedience opens our ears and our eyes, while disobedience renders us spiritually deaf and blind.

12. God is always in control whether we obey or not. But we’re never free until we obey.

13. Faith and obedience are ultimately based on God’s character - not His explanations.

14. We are never more free – and never more our true selves – than when we choose to surrender to God.
