Sermon Outline

See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! (1 John 3:1, NIV)

As I have loved you, so you must love one another. (John 13:34b, NIV)

Key Point #1: Kingdom Love Has Empathy

14 Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. 15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. 16 Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. (Hebrews 4:14-16, NIV)

Key Point #2: Kingdom Love Has Humility

All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.”Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand… (1 Peter 5:5b-6a, NIV)

…in humility value others above yourselves… (Philippians 2:3b, NIV)

Key Point #3: Kingdom Love Embraces the Imago Dei

So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. (Genesis 1:27, NLT)

If anyone takes a human life, that person’s life will also be taken by human hands. For God made human beings in his own image. Now be fruitful and multiply, and repopulate the earth.” Genesis 9:6, NLT)

Key Point #4: Kingdom Love Has Sacrifice

When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners. Now, most people would not be willing to die for an upright person, though someone might perhaps be willing to die for a person who is especially good. But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. (Romans 5:6-8, NLT)
