Sermon Outline

2 Timothy 3:16-17

Key passages sum up the foundation of the purpose of a book, and give insight into the whole doctrine of a subject.

Read 2 Timothy 3:10-17 in your appointment with God this week.

Why should I read the Bible?

1.  All Scripture is breathed out by God.

God is the author; we are the recipients not the judges.

You cannot approach the Bible with pride and expect to get new life. You come to the Bible in humility, facing the word of God as the final authority.

Paul’s warning is found in 2 Timothy 4:3

2. The Bible is profitable.

Knowing the Word pays off in life

  • Teaching or doctrine

The Bible pays off for us when it brings us:

  • Reproof, correction, and training in righteousness.
Righteousness: living the right way; being of right spirit.

The Bible challenges the heart.

This is why you need to read the Bible!

The Bible is where we discover the righteousness we need.

Matthew 22:1-13
