A Life Under Construction

1 Corinthians 13:1-7 (ESV)

Matthew 28:18-20 (ESV) - This passage is called The Great Commission.”

Jesus gave us a mission: “Go therefore and make disciples” (Matthew 28:19).

A disciple is more than a student; a disciple studies actions and/or beliefs and puts them into practice.

We will see how the Holy Spirit gives us a blueprint in relationships.

Two defining points in relationships:

1. There are toxic relationships.

Toxic relationships have to be defined by boundaries.

2.  The Bible always focuses on our attitudes and actions.

The blueprint for relationships is 1 Corinthians 13.

1 Corinthians 13:1-7 (ESV)

The foundation on the blueprint of relationships is love.

Agape wants the best for one another.

A disciple of Christ is called to let his heart be healed of selfishness and to want the best for other people.

Questions to ask yourself:

  • Where do I have relational stress today?
  • Why do I have this relational stress?
  • What do I do when relationships are tough?

Love (agape) is patient.

Patience is having self-sacrificing, non-avenging reactions to those who annoy us.

If God has been patient with us, shouldn’t we be patient with others?

Maybe the harshness of others that you face today is to give you the opportunity to be a great instrument of God’s grace for an eternal victory.

Assignment:

  1. Read 1 Corinthians 13 every day this week.
  2. Give time for The Spirit to speak to you about your relationships with others.
