Psalm 78

Psalm 78

The Psalms are good to know when you are facing uncertain times.

Psalm 78 reminds us of how faith grows and how we pass it on to our children.

Psalm 78:1-8

These first eight verses are an introduction; the next sixty-four are examples and teachings we should practice.

In this Psalm, God reminds the Jewish people of some of the troubles they went through, and how He took care of them.

God also reminds them of times when those lessons never took hold of their conscience in response to the issues they faced.

God is saying, “Pay attention.” Learn the lesson of how things work in My kingdom.

What does it take for you to learn a lesson?

God is asking in this passage, “How have I always reacted?”

Psalm 78:17-19

God says, “Look what I have done and you still question me”?

Here is how you get faith to grow in your life.

  1. Read the Bible and know God is the same today.

  2. When you feel fear, remind yourself of the stories you have read.

  3. Look back over your life and ask God to show you times He moved in your life.

How do you get faith to grow in your children's lives?

  1. Teach them Bible stories and ask how they apply to their lives.

  2. Share your stories of how God moved in your life.

Here is a spiritual growth assignment.

  1. Read Psalm 78. Talk about the kind of heart you want to have with faith in God.

  2. Talk about your favorite Bible stories, and how they form your faith today.

  3. Go to the Calvary Facebook page, and read a story from my family that built faith in my life.

  4. Share my story on your social media. Then write one of your own stories and add #CalvaryStories so it can build faith in others.
