Sermon Outline

The Word of God will build faith in your life.

Matthew 22:37-40

Should you take the Bible we have today seriously?

Has the original message been corrupted?

That is one of the arguments against scripture.

How can we know that Jesus really said these things?

How do we know that the Bible itself hasn’t been hijacked by men?

How close to the message of Jesus is our Bible today?

There are many voices today that want to undermine the reliability of scripture.

The bibliographical test examines manuscript reliability

You can find all of this information online, published by Dr. Josh McDowell and Dr. Clay Jones, by searching Bibliographical Test

The test compares the closeness of the Old and New Testament’s oldest surviving manuscripts to the date each book was originally penned

“One must conclude that there simply is no ancient work attested to as well as the New Testament.”- Dr. Josh McDowell

If we compare all ancient writings with the same standard, we are left with an undeniable claim that we can have confidence in the New Testament writings.

The Supremacy of Biblical Teaching

Jesus’ supreme teaching is found in Matthew 22:37-40.

“Love your neighbor as yourself.”

Who is your neighbor? Family, friends, coworkers, church members, those who love you…

and those who hate you, abuse you, and betray you.

Love your enemies.

Jesus calls us and then He empowers us.

What is love?

Desiring what is best for others and acting on it.

Jesus shows us how to act.

Jesus shows us how to form our hearts.

Jesus shows us what to believe.

We can count on the accuracy of the Bible not only because of historical evidence but on the supremacy of the Bible's teaching.

We need to know it so we can live it.
