1 Corinthians 13:1-8 ESV

Psalm 68:5-6

No one has to live in loneliness.

There is one word that is the opposite of loneliness - intimacy.

What is intimacy?

Intimacy is all about connection, understanding, care, love and feeling.

Intimacy requires investment of live in others.

How does intimacy grow?

1.  Intimacy can grow through commitment.

As selfishness destroys roles and disrupts relationships, it also destroys intimacy.

You can love your children and miss intimacy. The cost is influence. The cost is in the question, "Why don't they care?"

Intimacy grows with words, time, and action that says "I am committed to you."

2.  Intimacy grows with love.

Love at its core wants the best for them.  1 Corinthians 13

3.  It gets built on shared life.

Sharing and celebrating life.

Intimacy grows in shared experiences, shared goals, shared pain, and shared faith.

Intimacy starts between the ears and grows in the heart.

Intimacy is the deep end of the pool.

Intimacy is the place loneliness is destroyed.

This week's assignment:

  1. Start sharing your life!
  2. Invite others to share their lives!
  3. Invest your time in their lives.

The husband and wife relationship is not the most intimate relationship you can have.

The relationship between you and God is.
