The Desperate Desire

1 Samuel 1:12-17

Do you believe in life after death?

It is not hyperbole to say we live in a day of great spiritual conflict.

We live in a time when the followers of Christ are losing.

People simply think it is too late.

What can we do?

  • I believe the church should be involved in good works.
  • I believe the people of God should be kind and encouraging.
  • I believe we should have fun activities for our children to learn and grow.

All of these are good but none of them will win the day.

We are in a spiritual battle that will only be won by spiritual means.

Right now we need spiritual first responders.

Hannah knew what she wanted.  She knew that only God could intervene.

This is for us today. Do we see the need and does it stir our hearts?

Engaging in the spiritual battle is not a matter of wishful thinking, fleeting prayers, or acknowledgement of God’s will.

We enter the field of combat with persevering prayer, heartfelt, spirit-driven, faith-believing prayer.

Engage with God. God will answer. Nothing is hopeless.

  • Make an appointment with God.
  • Build your prayer list.
  • Pray and don’t give up until you see the answer.

Colossians 4:12

We want easy prayer. However, over and over again the Bible uses words like struggling, wrestling, striving, agonizing, and fervency in regards to prayer.

We are called to the fight of faith.

I am not overstating this. I am not making a big deal out of nothing. It is time to engage in the spiritual battle.

If our hearts are not desperate then this is our first prayer: “Let my heart beat like Yours.”

Hannah knew her only place of hope was in God.
