Sermon Outline

What do we do when God seems silent?

Psalm 13:1-6

“The God who hears prayer is the God of the Bible. Prayer and the Word are interrelated. Praying people love God’s Word, and those who love God’s Word long to pray and love to pray.” – Wesley L. Duewel

Mature Christians go through seasons when God seems silent.

When God seems silent, cling to His character

Our feelings and circumstances are not the best way to determine what God is like and what He’s doing.

Two foundations of trust are God’s Word and what God has done in the past

When we forget what God’s done in the past, we fail to realize what He’s doing in the present and in the future.

Psalm 105:5

Psalm 77:11-12

We will discover God’s character not in how we feel or what our situation suggests He’s like, but in what He has said and what He has actually done.

Three characteristics of God we can hold on to in the silent times:

  1. God’s love is unfailing.
  2. God is good and generous.
  3. God is a rescuer.

God demonstrated His love through the cross.

We can always measure God’s love and compassion through the cross!
