What Do You Desire

Matthew 5:2-6

At the heart beat of men who are built to last is the desire towards perfection.

Ecclesiastes 1:13

Ecclesiastes 12:13–14

It is important to note that Jesus didn’t say that the builder crashed in the storm. He said the house he built crashed in the storm.

If you are wondering why your house is weather beaten it would be a good thing to study the Sermon on the Mount closely.

The beatitudes show the self-view then the character of the follower who is built to last, but you have to have the whole truth in place.

We start with seeing God and ourselves clearly.

  • I don’t think right.
  • I don’t feel right.
  • I can’t fix it.

Here are the trunk and limbs that the fruit can grow on:
Matthew 5:6

When the right view of self and God is in place in us we will hunger and thirst to be changed.

This is the hunger and thirst of parched lips that will eat whatever you put in front of them.

This hunger is not hungry for just anything; this is a hunger and thirst for righteousness.

This is a hunger to not only do the right thing but to feel the right way.

This is a desire for righteousness to be the default setting of life.

My default settings are my clearest sign of how I see God and where I am building my life.

When we see the greatness of God we mourn, we become pliable before Him, and we hunger and thirst for righteousness.

What is it your desire?

Knowing that satisfaction is only found in the provision of God is the mark of a life built to last.

That hunger and thirst will produce fruit for all occasions

God let me see you.

God I hunger for you.

God make me like you.
