WHO IS JESUS?

Colossians 1:15–23 (ESV)

We cannot be true to the Bible and see Jesus as anything less than God the Son.

The Son is distinctively the manifestation of The Deity that, around 2000 years ago, took on the form of a human to redeem the world.

Keys points to understand about Jesus:

1. Jesus existed before creation.
Colossians 1:17 (ESV)

2. Jesus is the image of God.
Colossians 1:15 (ESV)

3. Jesus created everything.
Colossians 1:16 (ESV)

We are created for a purpose: to worship God.

What does worshipping God look like?

  • Loving God and expressing such love to Him.

  • Loving others and being used by God to bless them.

  • Showing the glory of God.

4. He is The Reconciler.
Colossians 1:19-22 (ESV)

We were once alienated from God. Our minds were not in line with God’s thinking or will. We did things that caused harm to others and our relationship with God.

God offers peace to us through Jesus. Reconciliation is offered through Jesus’ death on the cross.

5. He is the object of our faith.
Colossians 1:23 (ESV)

Colossians 2:9-15 (ESV)

A key work of baptism is new freedom over the flesh.

Baptism says, “I now belong to Jesus and my faith is in Him.”

Gods makes us alive in Him.

Baptism can be a pivotal moment in the faith walk of a child of God.

Today Jesus has three important roles in our lives:

  • He intercedes for us.

  • He baptizes us in the Holy Spirit.

  • He is our soon coming King.
